Family Retreat with Childcare · 8 Nights · Small Group

A Week for Family, Nature & Genuine Togetherness

Arrive. Breathe. Be together.

A consciously simple, lovingly guided retreat for families longing for deceleration, connection, and nature – far from the everyday hustle, appointments, and expectations.

This family retreat is an invitation to step out of the routine for a few days and immerse in a shared rhythm.

While the children are engaged in reliable childcare, discovering and exploring nature, adults have space for:

Rest Exchange Simply being

At the same time, families experience shared activities that connect – without pressure to perform, without fixed expectations.

The accommodation is intentionally kept simple: communal dorms, close to nature, peaceful, supported by a respectful group atmosphere.
The focus is not on comfort but on time, presence, and community.

This retreat is not a vacation “with a program.” It is a shared experience that often lasts long after.

This retreat thrives on togetherness, not on working through a plan.

-Every day can be different. We will play, rest, laugh, or just be.-

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

The retreat is designed for families with children aged 5 to 9. The childcare is age-appropriate. We take the children for walks in nature and on the beach, we do exercises for listening, singing, rhythm, and body awareness. Adults are always welcome to join the activities but can also take the time to explore the surroundings on their own or relax, exercise, or quietly read a book on the beach. Children do not need to be particularly musical or sporty, an enthusiasm for nature is an advantage and a general interest in learning something new, but children naturally bring that with them anyway. If you have any questions about our activities, feel free to contact us personally.

Children are cared for daily in fixed time slots, usually in the morning from 10-12:30, either on the hostel grounds or we go for a walk nearby, through the woods or to the sea. There is room for free play, nature experience, and creative offers. In the afternoons, we have offers for joint time with parents and children, such as a free crafting hour or Easter egg gathering. In the evenings, we sometimes offer programs for parents and children together, like a dance evening or an Easter bonfire.

The group size is small. This allows us to respond to the children individually and maintain a calm atmosphere.

There are daily fixed time slots for childcare as well as shared family times. The exact daily rhythm develops together on-site.

Meet the Team

Nelly

Leadership & Organization

Hello,I am Nelly (42 years old). My passion is singing. I am a professional singer and vocal coach and have performed many concerts in my life. However, the most fun for me is singing together with others.

I have been living here in Alentejo for 6 years, and Casa no Campo is my dream place. When I'm not surfing, I enjoy dancing, cooking, or leading a choir where we sing pop songs.

I want to share my home with you and show you how beautiful nature in Portugal can be. We'll go to the beach together, have fun, sing together, and most importantly, enjoy ourselves!

Anna

Childcare

I am Anna (35 years old – but feel 25) and I invite you to explore nature with me, be creative, and laugh a lot.

I am a warm-hearted, freedom-loving, open, and positive person with the ability to spread good vibes and earworms, and I look forward to having a wonderful time with you!

I am an educator. I have worked in child and youth services and in kindergartens. As an experiential educator, I also accompany holiday camps in the Alps or on a bicycle. I have already stirred things up in Corfu with guest services, childcare, and a teen program. Now it's Portugal's turn 😉

Maria João

Dance and Movement Coach

Hello,

I am Maria João, born 61 years ago in Lisbon. Even as a shy girl, I discovered: “I dance, therefore I am!” The joy of dancing has shaped my entire life and made my childhood dream come true.

Dance connects us with ourselves, with other people, with nature, and with our culture. It is a celebration of life and a constant learning process. I studied choreography and new dance, have been living in Germany for 30 years, have two children, and work with people of all ages. Coming back to my roots and dancing with you fills me with great joy.

Richard

When I don't spend my time Kitesurfing I like to work on the land planting trees and caring for the nature around me. I am looking forward to welcoming you on my land and to get to know all of you!

Bowie

Hi I am Bowie,I am the actual guardian of Casa no Campo. I love humans, especially my dear friends Richard and Nelly and all the kids on this planet. I love to play fetch and I just love love love cuddles. 😉
